Lawyer accused of using bikie to tamper with case

Posted by on 17/10/2018

A Melbourne lawyer has been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice for allegedly contacting a bikie to interfere with a witness in a serious criminal case.

Defence lawyer Nick Marcevski will face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday after Purana Task Force detectives arrested and charged him on Thursday.

Mr Marcevski, from the Sunshine-based firm C. Marshall & Associates, was representing a man accused of a serious crime in a case that is yet to go to trial.

Police will allege Mr Marcevski, 32, of Cairnlea, contacted a member of an outlaw motorcycle gang the day before a Crown witness was due to give evidence.

Mr Marcevski contacted the bikie in an attempt to interfere with the Crown witness, police will allege.

He was charged and granted bail by police on Thursday to appear for a filing hearing on Wednesday in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

The C. Marshall & Associates website states that Mr Marcevski joined the firm in 2010 having had previous experience at other specialist criminal law firms.

He was admitted to practise as a barrister and solicitor at the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Mr Marcevski was unable to be reached for comment.
